Harvest Fair 2017
By: Aelita Arshakyan
The Pilibos Annual Harvest Fair, organized by the PSC, took place on Friday, October 27th from 2:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The event was a fun-filled night featuring various rides, games, food, and snacks. Games, rides, and activities included a watermelon eating contest, jumpers, a haunted maze, pumpkin decorating, and face painting. Such a successful event would not be possible without the help of Mrs. Hanan Karabetian and Gayane Agazaryan, two of the event’s chairs who planned the fair. “The opportunity to co-chair the Harvest fair with Gayane this year was a huge privilege. The success of the event depended on many factors: proper advanced planning, powerful teamwork, and dedicated volunteers. That thrill on the children’s faces made my heart dance with joy!” says Mrs. Karabetian.
Mrs. Agazaryan adds that, “We maintained the ideas of many years of planning by prior members and added new ones such as the watermelon eating contest and the pumpkin decorating contest, which made the event even more interesting. It was a successful event and a fun family atmosphere. We hope that every year we can implement new ideas to make it enjoyable for everyone and continue the tradition of the Pilibos Harvest Fair!”
The volunteers contributed a lot of work and help into preparing the event and making sure all of the activities ran smoothly. Two interviews were conducted with junior students who volunteered at the event and were thrilled to share their experiences.
Vivian Sahagun states, “Volunteering at the Harvest Fair was amazing. I was placed at the boom blaster booth and interacting with children who were so amused and interested by the game was great. I am happy to help my school in any way because I know that they truly need the extra aid. It was simply very fun and I look forward to volunteering again next year!”
Nicole Mikailian adds her share of the experience by stating that: “It was a very fun experience. I got to see how much fun the kids were having at the jumper, cave of wonders, and the rest of the exciting activities planned. Overall, it made me happy to see how all of the work put into volunteering at the event paid off because seeing those children smile was quite an unforgettable moment. The Harvest Fair makes everyone feel really happy.”
We cannot wait for the many more exciting activities to take place in our 2018 Harvest Fair! Hope to see you all again!
